HEADLINE: ENDANGERED SPECIES -- ARE POSTERS EXAMPLE OF 'HATE SPEECH'?
BODY:
Re: The May 10 Pacific Northwest digest item "Greenpeace 'wanted posters' of Gorton inundate his office." Greenpeace's quote: "Wanted - Slade Gorton - for threatening the survival of our nation's wildlife and forests" was astounding. I have a few questions to ask: Is this an example of what President Clinton recently referred to as "hate speech"? What if someone like the Unabomber were to take these comments seriously as open season on Slade Gorton? Would they, then, be accountable for any potential future harm to Sen. Gorton or his family?
